Before going to full scale production, solutions must be trained and tested at modest scales. They also must compete against each other to prove out the most promising approach. Training an AI model is an enormous investment. Success at the POC level is the necessary gate to expensive, full scale training.
Full Scale Production
Full scale training of an artificial intelligent model is an expensive proposition even for the largest of companies. It can also be a continous process to address edge cases within a domain (country) or to expand the model behavior to multiple domains (world wide).
Deployment
Once a model passes through all the development gates, releasing it into the world so that it can operate at scale while equitably rewarding its community of creators is a sophisticated problem. In addition, superintelligent capabilies require safety guards for responsible operation and to maintain human alignment. While some facets of model development may be maintained as open-source, this may not always be the case.
